New Jersey 3 Opening Reception at Hetty Reckless Center

On Wednesday, August 27, the city of Salem welcomed the SSPP New Jersey 3 exhibition with an opening reception at the Hetty Reckless Center. The portraits lined the light-filled community space, creating a powerful backdrop for an afternoon of remembrance.

Mothers Shannon Turner and Marsha Burrell-Green spoke movingly about their sons, Shamar Turner and Wid (Lee Andrew Williams, Jr.). Each memorialized in the exhibition, Shannon and Marsha shared personal stories of love and loss that grounded the event in its true purpose. The Salem chapter of Moms Demand Action helped bring the show to life, and the room was filled with community members, including representatives from the city council, the prosecutor’s office, and the nearby library.

We are especially grateful to Judy MacKenzie for her dedication in helping coordinate the New Jersey 3 exhibition, and to the city of Salem for their warm welcome and support.

The exhibition remains on view through September 15 at the Hetty Reckless Center.
