Family members or friends of a loved one lost to gun violence
Have you lost someone to gun violence? Are you yourself a survivor of gun violence? If so, we invite you to participate as a family member or friend. Participation is free.
You will be randomly paired with an artist who will create a portrait focusing on the life of the person affected by gun violence.
The artists participating in this project will be working in a variety of styles and media. They are charged with making a portrait in the broad sense of the word (a work that will convey the essence of the person) so not all portraits will be in a realistic style.
You will meet with the artist and provide photos, mementos, stories and anything that will help the artist to better know your loved one.
We currently have exhibitions operating out of Philadelphia, Pennnsylvania, and New Jersey. On the application, you will be asked to select a chapter with which to participate. We recommend you select an area where your loved one has or had connections.
If you and your loved one are not affiliated in any way with one of our existing chapters but would be interested in starting a Souls Shot Portrait Project in your state or community, send us an email for more information.
