Carin Seals in front of the portrait of her brother, Brandon Lamar Seals, Sr., and cousin, Domonique A. Boyer titled Circle of Love, Circle of Loss, by Laura Madeleine.Carin is a poet and her words inspired the design of the portrait.
Carlisle Arts Learning Center, CALC, in Carlisle, PA, held a stirring panel discussion in May in the gallery where the Pennsylvania exhibition was installed. Pat LaMarche, one of the authors of American Roulette, A Novel , and Mo Geiger, Collaborative Director of CALC facilitated the event. Artists Stacey Kent Wyckoff and Laura Madeleine spoke of their experiences working with families to create portraits. Carin Seals spoke about her families losses as did Lindsey Martin. Attendees shared their concerns and thoughts on how to deal with the rampant gun use and ubiquity of guns in this country. We are grateful to CALC for hosting Souls Shot Portrait Project and for holding this inspiring event.
